TMS (MeRT) Therapy for PTSD in Valencia & Calabasas, CA

New, non-invasive, drug-free treatment can free you from the aftereffects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Living with PTSD

Living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can be a nightmare—literally. PTSD can cause flashbacks, night terrors, and severe anxiety. The symptoms can last for months or years and can interfere with your day-to-day functioning. If you’ve experienced PTSD, you know this all too well. And you’d do anything to be free from the debilitating effects.

We understand how painful this can be. And that’s why we offer a breakthrough new treatment for PTSD. It’s called MeRT, or Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy. It is completely non-invasive, and drug-free and, in most cases, resulted in significant improvement in symptoms.

MeRT Treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

MeRT is a tailored, highly individualized form of TMS or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. We use magnetic waves to stimulate specifically targeted areas of the brain found not to be communicating or functioning optimally. We use sophisticated diagnostic tools and imaging to plan a tailored treatment approach just for you.

Patients with PTSD have markers that can be clearly seen in EEG studies. We work to identify these markers that cause disruptions in the brain and strengthen healthy brainwave activity through a highly personalized treatment plan. This treatment can result in a significant reduction of PTSD symptoms.

Plus, many people who experience post-traumatic stress also suffer from conditions such as depression and anxiety. The MeRT treatment can address those conditions as well. *

Think you might have PTSD?

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health disorder that begins after a traumatic event. That event may involve a real or perceived threat of injury or death.

This can include:

People with PTSD feel a heightened sense of danger. This alters their natural fight-or-flight response, causing them to feel stressed or fearful, even when they’re actually safe.

PTSD used to be called “shell shock” or “battle fatigue” because it often affects war veterans. According to the National Center for PTSD, it’s estimated that about 15 percent of Vietnam War veterans and 12 percent of Gulf War veterans have PTSD.

It’s also possible to have delayed PTSD symptoms that don’t show up until years later; PTSD from child abuse is one example of this.

But PTSD can happen to anyone at any age. It occurs as a response to chemical and neuronal changes in the brain after exposure to threatening events. And having PTSD doesn’t mean you’re flawed or weak.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Symptoms

Here are some possible symptoms you may experience with PTSD:

PTSD and MeRT

While PTSD may improve with medication and therapy, 20-50% of all patients don’t respond to conventional treatments. Yet, TMS—a key component of MeRT—has shown some remarkable results. The National Institutes of Health has published several studies that show the effectiveness of TMS on post-traumatic stress.

According to a 2019 study, TMS showed effectiveness for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). And a 2018 trial found that TMS alongside cognitive processing therapy was effective for PTSD and that the therapeutic effect of this combination lasted for six months.

The MeRT treatment plan is highly individualized for each person, with the purpose of improving brain communication. This can lead to significant clinical improvements and a vastly improved quality of life. *

“The Broken Brain” Podcast Featuring Dr. Erik Won

If you suffer from Depression, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), or Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), we highly recommend watching this incredible podcast. Dr. Won speaks about how this technology has evolved and the utilization of MeRT treatment for those who have experienced Depression, TBI, and PTSD.

After exhausting all options, this Army veteran was at the end of his rope. Then he tried MeRT.

Scot was a retired Army Delta Force operator. As tough as they come, right? Not when it came to what was going on in his brain.

“It was absolutely terrifying not to know what was wrong with me or how to fix the problem,” he said. He’d tried everything, from traditional medicine to psychotherapy to hyperbaric chambers, but nothing made him feel any better.

He felt utterly misunderstood by those around him. They thought he was going crazy. They didn’t want to be around him for fear of what he might do. He felt trapped inside his head—a horrible place to be for someone with PTSD.

Then he heard about a Brain Treatment called MeRT, or Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy. He figured he had nothing to lose, so he gave it a try.

“They not only identified the deteriorated state of my brainwave activity, they restored its function,” Scot said.

Two months after treatment, he felt like he had a whole new brain: “I consider the healing I experienced to be nothing short of a miracle.”
